Julia Fernandez-Pol came to Oehme Graphics for one week in April 2012. She created beautiful water-based monotypes on grey paper with bas-relief and hand coloring, entitled Reef Series 2 #1-#31. She added to these monotypes with a series on white paper, entitled Chaos Reef #1-#3, and a series on black paper, entitled Nebular Reef Series #1-#7. Finally, she delved into copper plate etching with group of dynamic, irregularly shaped plates, relief rolled and carefully arranged in fantastic compositions. These are titled Flower and Willow World (Karyūkai), Kabuki Theater, Plum Blossom Dagger, and Zen Galaxy. The unusual, geometric shaped plates, coupled with Julia’s organic and lyrical line drawing, create an incredible group of prints that compliment her spectacular monotypes.
