Ken Buhler received his B.F.A. from the University of Iowa, his M.F.A. from Indiana University, and attended Skowhegan. He has been an artist in residence at Bard since 2000.

His work is in the collection of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, Colorado; de Saisset Museum, The Beach Museum, The Sioux City Art Center, IBM, McCrory Corporation, Prudential, Argossy Partners, Peerless Imports, The Boston Company, Screen Actors Guild, Marine Midland, Paul and Helene Cantor, John and Judi Hannan, John and Pat Magliocco, and The Maslow Collection. He is represented by the Lesley Heller Workspace.

Buhler received a Ballinglen Arts Foundation Residency, Ballycastle Ireland, in 2006, a Bard Research Fund Award in 2005, a MacDowell Colony Fellowship in 2004, a Pratt Faculty Development Award in 1999, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in printmaking in 1994, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in painting in 1987, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 1987, a MacDowell Colony Fellowship in 1983, a Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center award in 1982, and a Ford Foundation Travel Grant, Italy, in 1981.

Ken Buhler came to Oehme Graphics from Brooklyn, New York, in March 2011, and worked intensely for two weeks formulating a series of seven copper and solar plate prints and a series of forty-one monoprints, all entitled Notes From the Edge of the World. The suite of seven etchings are also available as a boxed portfolio with letterpress text pages. Ken's use of rubber stamps, stencils, and his beautifully delicate drawing style are the building blocks of his intricate and otherworldly artwork.
